Historic Typographic Poster

Concept
5037 Ye ri hwang Historical typography poster
“145 years of State Library of NSW”
To promote the celebration of “145 years of State Library of NSW” I have decide to choose bauhaus time period.
Bauhaus can be define as “Clarity of the message in its most emphatic form.”
The motivations behind the creation of the Bauhaus lay in the 19th century, in anxieties about the soullessness of manufacturing and its products, and in fears about art's loss of purpose in society. Creativity and manufacturing were drifting apart, and the Bauhaus aimed to unite them once again, rejuvenating design for everyday life.

Along with Gropius, and many other artists and teachers, both Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and Herbert Bayer made significant contributions to the development of graphic design. Among its many contributions to the development of design, the Bauhaus taught typography as part of its curriculum and was instrumental in the development of sans-serif typography, which they favored for its simplified geometric forms and as an alternative to the heavily ornate German standard of blackletter typography.
My core idea of this poster was “Link between history and present” I’ve asked myself what stand for library for us today. I believe the library play the role of history and link between the history and present. That’s why I’ve decided to link every single typography with the other element.

Work process

I’ve choose the background as a grungy effect of nsw I believe that could be symbolised the history. and also tried to empathise the word as library.
Colour
I believe the grey and dark red always make best combination. So I played around with the opacity to make balance.
Font
The font that I’ve choose is a “SF New republic” It’s a clean, modern, industrial atmosphere achieved
by anonymously designed, rather dark grotesques faces stripped of all unnecessary decorative elements. It goes well with the background and also with the colours as well. It will be strong appeal to the audience and designers.
